Tribute paid to the martyrs at Amar Vatika

Raipur, 15 August 2026/ On the occasion of 80th Independence Day, Chhattisgarh's Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma paid tribute to the indomitable courage, valour and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of Bastar region. Addressing the officers and jawans posted in Kanker, Narayanpur, Sukma, Dantewada districts who were decorated with gallantry medals, in a programme organised at Amar Vatika in Jagdalpur, he said that the bravery of the soldiers has written a new history of Bastar, the credit for the historic successes achieved in the campaign against Naxalism goes to the courage, dedication and determination of the security forces.

Gallantry awards to 141 Chhattisgarh Police personnel are a testament to their dedication and bravery.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the soldiers have remained on the front lines with full devotion even in difficult conditions and deadly threats like IEDs. The Gallantry Award being given to 141 soldiers of Chhattisgarh Police within 25 years of the formation of the state is a testimony to their dedication and bravery. Mr. Sharma said that after the formation of the new government, the tricolor is being hoisted on national festivals even in those remote and sensitive areas of Bastar, where it was not possible earlier. By hoisting the tricolor at 93 new places this year, the security forces have strengthened the new foundation of trust and democracy.

Effective establishment of the Constitution and democratic system in Bastar

Referring to the massive surrender in Jagdalpur in August 2025, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the surrender of 210 Naxalites along with 163 weapons is a significant rehabilitation campaign in the country's history. He described it as a major success in the determination of the security forces and the progress towards peace. He said that the effective establishment of the Constitution and democratic system in Bastar is the result of the bravery of the soldiers and the trust of the local people. Commenting on Maoist ideology, he said that a system established through the power of the gun cannot protect the rights of the people. In a democracy, only a system elected by the people and accountable to them is valid.

Bastar's children will be connected to modern education and technology.
Home Minister Shri Sharma said that the government's priority is to connect the children of Bastar with modern education and technology while preserving the water, forests and culture of Bastar. He said that new possibilities of development are now emerging in the area which once lacked basic facilities. He informed that security camps in areas like Tekulgudam are being developed as 'Shaheed Veer Gundadhur Seva Dera'. Facilities like schools, hospitals, Anganwadi and skill development centers will be developed in these centers in accordance with the local culture and natural resources.

A new path of happiness, peace and development is paved in Bastar

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that positive changes are continuously taking place in Bastar toward peace, development, and democracy. Expressing gratitude to all the soldiers and officers, he said that the security forces, along with the people of Bastar, play an important role in paving a new path for prosperity, peace, and development. On this occasion, brave soldiers recounted their stories of valor and shared stories of the valor of the martyrs.

During this, the Home Minister paid tribute by laying flowers at the Amar Jawan Martyrs Memorial and placed a wreath on the memorial plaque of the martyrs. Mayor Mr. Sanjay Pandey, Cooperative Bank Chairman Mr. Dinesh Kashyap, other public representatives, Commissioner Mr. Doman Singh, IG Mr. Badri Narayan Meena, Collector Mr. Akash Chikkara, Superintendent of Police Mr. Shalabh Sinha, along with officers and personnel from the police department were present.
