Raipur. A major accident occurred on Saturday in the Vidhansabha police station premises of the capital Raipur. A young man was electrocuted after touching a water cooler outside the police station. The young man died in the accident, while a police constable who came to his rescue also suffered electric shock. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Thakur (32), a resident of Bilha, Bilaspur district. Ramesh had come to the Vidhansabha police station for some work. During this time, he went to drink water near the water cooler outside the police station premises.

As soon as he touched the water cooler, he was electrocuted and fell unconscious. Seeing Ramesh electrocuted, the policemen nearby rushed to his aid. Meanwhile, constable Gulaal Verma was also electrocuted and suffered burns. The policemen immediately shut off the power supply. Efforts were made to revive Ramesh, but by then he had already died. The injured constable Ganesh was immediately taken to the hospital.

The body was sent for post-mortem.
Following the accident, the police station premises were in a state of chaos for some time. The police have sent the young man's body for post-mortem. The exact cause of the accident will only be clear after a thorough investigation by the police and the electricity department. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Upon receiving information about the accident, senior police officers arrived at the scene. Subsequently, officers and staff from the SSB also arrived at the police station premises and began investigating the entire electrical connection, including the water cooler. The team is working to determine how the current entered the water cooler and how the current reached the outside. Only after the investigation will the full cause of the accident become clear.
