Citizens should not face any problem in commuting on the roads under construction during the rainy season: Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai

Raipur, September 2026/ Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has taken seriously the problems being faced by citizens in commuting due to the roads under construction during the rainy season in the state.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai took cognizance of a viral video showing the inconvenience being faced by citizens due to the poor condition of the road at Kharsia Chowk in Ambikapur city. Chief Minister Shri Sai spoke with Surguja Collector Shri Ajit Vasant over the phone to inquire about the situation. He directed the Collector to immediately inspect the road and ensure necessary repairs.

Chief Minister Shri Sai has ordered the filling of large potholes on the Kharsia Chowk road, necessary leveling, and improved drainage. He directed that in areas with heavy traffic, coordination with the police and traffic departments should be ensured to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic.

Chief Minister Shri Sai has directed all the District Collectors to regularly monitor the status of roads under construction in their districts, personally visit the spot and inspect as per requirement and ensure that the roads remain motorable by coordinating with the concerned departments and construction agencies.

Chief Minister Shri Sai has asked all district collectors to exercise special vigilance regarding road safety during the rainy season. Where road damage, construction work, erosion around bridges, waterlogging, or any other reason threatens to disrupt traffic or cause accidents, immediate protective measures should be taken. Warning signs, barricades, and safe alternative traffic arrangements should also be ensured as needed.

Chief Minister Shri Sai has given clear instructions that citizens should not face unnecessary difficulties in commuting due to poor road conditions in any area during the monsoon. Where construction work is underway or roads have been damaged by rain, all necessary interim repairs, including pothole filling, leveling, and drainage, should be undertaken on priority. Despite the practical difficulties associated with weather-related construction, every necessary measure should be taken to ensure that the roads remain passable.

Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that whether the road belongs to the National Highway, the Public Works Department, a municipal body, or any other agency, the district administration should ensure prompt resolution of the problem by establishing effective coordination with the concerned department. Collectors should identify major roads with high traffic pressure and routes under construction in their districts and regularly review their status.

Chief Minister Shri Sai directed that ongoing and approved road works be expedited as soon as the rainy season ends. By developing a work plan with construction agencies, road construction and permanent repairs should be completed within the stipulated timeframe with quality. He said that to ensure that road construction works do not cause long-term inconvenience to the public, continuous monitoring of construction work should be done and timely implementation should be ensured.
