Telemedicine: A powerful step towards digital healthcare
Raipur. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, launched the Telemedicine Program. The program aims to provide quality healthcare services digitally in remote and rural areas of the country.
Under the program, patients can now access healthcare through video conferencing, phone calls, or mobile apps. This not only saves time but also reduces the hassle and expense of travel. This initiative is strengthening access to healthcare, especially in rural areas. The telemedicine program embodies our Digital India mission in the healthcare sector. This initiative is a major step towards bringing equity to healthcare.
The program is being implemented by the AYUSH Department in Chhattisgarh state since April 2024. Telemedicine services are currently being offered in 256 AYUSH institutions under the program, which will be expanded to all AYUSH institutions in a phased manner. Two hubs, 54 hub-cum-spokes, and 200 hub centers have been selected. To date, 8,056 beneficiaries have been provided health benefits through telemedicine.
