A new wave of hope in Bastar, a massive camp was organised to provide prosthetic limbs and assistive devices to the disabled.
A massive campaign for the rehabilitation of more than three and a half thousand disabled people from four districts of the division.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai virtually inaugurated the camp and said that the government is taking initiative by being sensitive towards empowering the disabled.
Raipur, October 2026/ Bastar, which suffered the horrors of Naxal violence and landmines for a long time, is now emerging from darkness and rapidly progressing on a new path of peace, trust and development. In this context, a massive three-day free handicapped aid and assistive devices distribution camp organized at Dharampura Sports Complex in Jagdalpur has awakened new hope in the lives of the victims. Organized under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' running from September 17 to October 17, this camp has registered more than 3,800 needy people from Bastar, Kondagaon, Narayanpur and Kanker districts of the division. Through this camp, citizens who have lost their limbs due to Naxal explosions, road accidents and other reasons are being made self-reliant by providing them artificial limbs and assistive devices.
Addressing the camp virtually, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai said that Bastar has long suffered from the scourge of Naxalite violence, but now the region is emerging from that era and moving forward in a new direction of development. He said that this event is not merely a program to distribute equipment, but a major step towards the respect, self-reliance, and empowerment of the disabled. He assured the victims who lost their limbs in the violence that they should never feel alone; the entire government and society stands with them with full sensitivity. Echoing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision, the Chief Minister underlined that the government's goal is not only to free Bastar from violence, but also to build a peaceful, strong, and developed Bastar.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, who was present at the event, said that the elimination of Naxalism is not limited to the actions of security forces, but rather, the elimination of the last vestige of Naxalism lies in re-empowering and restoring to life every citizen who has lost their limbs in landmine and IED blasts. He emotionally remarked that while the Naxalites may have taken away people's limbs through blasts, thanks to the self-confidence of the people of Bastar and the blessings of Mother Danteshwari, today those same people are moving forward with self-respect with the help of prosthetic limbs. The Deputy Chief Minister made special mention of the resilience of villager Santosh Poyam, a victim of an IED blast, and police personnel Rakesh Kumar Yadav and Ghasiram Manjhi, who were injured in the line of duty and are now able to walk without support with the help of prosthetic limbs.
This noble campaign is being conducted under the joint auspices of the Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti, Jaipur NSE Foundation, and the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, renowned for the "Jaipur Foot," in coordination with the district administration and the Social Welfare Department. The camp's unique feature is that in an on-site modern workshop, experts take individual measurements of the disabled and fabricate and fit modern prosthetic arms, legs, and calipers on the spot. On the first day, more than 70 beneficiaries were provided with prosthetic limbs. Additionally, wheelchairs, tricycles, calipers, crutches, and hearing aids are being provided to those in need, free of charge. As per the Deputy Chief Minister's instructions, the Health Department's medical team is conducting on-site examinations and issuing medical certificates to the disabled. Beneficiaries are also being linked to 100% disability pensions and other social security schemes on the spot, saving them from future office visits.
