Wildlife Week concludes; students demonstrate environmental awareness through art and creative activities
Raipur, October 10, 2026: Young talents who spread the message of wildlife conservation were awarded on Thursday in the Dandakaranya Auditorium of Aranya Bhavan in Nava Raipur. Students who won various art and knowledge-based competitions were honored at the ceremony marking the closing of Wildlife Week.
Under the guidance of Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, the Forest and Climate Change Department and the Raipur Forest Division, in collaboration with Kalinga University's Green Group and the Department of Zoology, celebrated Wildlife Week from October 2nd to 8th. Organized on the theme "Connecting Natural Habitats, Flourishing Wildlife," the week focused on the importance of nature and biodiversity conservation through various activities. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Shri Arun Kumar Pandey was present.
During the week-long event, students participated in activities such as making paper figures and nest models, seed ball making, wildlife photography, and nature walks. These activities raised awareness about the importance of conserving wildlife and their natural habitats.
In the short film making competition, Devesh Minj, Siddhant Nagpure and Varsha Sahu of Kalinga University stood first, second and third respectively. In the essay competition, Shreya Sahu of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Shailya Sahu of Government Higher Secondary School Uparwara and Akash Das of PM Shri Swami Atmanand Vidyalaya Mana Camp secured the first three positions respectively. Hema of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Mana Camp and Deepika Sahu of Government Higher Secondary School Ganod received consolation prizes. The competitions and nature-based activities organized during Wildlife Week gave students an opportunity to connect with environmental conservation and understand their responsibility towards biodiversity.
