Even if fingerprints are not available, beneficiaries will receive ration; alternative arrangements are available
In case of any problem with biometric authentication, ration can also be obtained through nominee or OTP.
The Food Department clarified that no eligible beneficiary is deprived of ration merely because of fingerprint mismatch.
Raipur, October / Under the Public Distribution System, there is a provision for an alternative system to provide rations to eligible beneficiaries even if their fingerprints do not match. Beneficiaries, including the elderly, who face difficulties with biometric authentication can receive rations through a nominee or OTP-based authentication, as per the rules. The Food Department has clarified that it is not appropriate to conclude that a beneficiary cannot receive rations simply because their fingerprints do not match.
