Cyber criminals target teachers in CG: Impersonators threaten teachers, VSK app fears data leak

Raipur: Cyber criminals are now targeting teachers in Chhattisgarh. They are calling teachers, posing as cyber crime inspectors, and threatening legal action.

Worryingly, complaints have surfaced about calls being made to multiple teachers at a school from a single mobile number. The School Teachers' Association has raised questions about the access of teachers' personal information to fraudsters.

The association has demanded an investigation into the alleged data leak from the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) app. However, the source of the data leak has not yet been confirmed.

Calls to multiple teachers from the same school

According to the teachers' union, suspicious callers are intimidating teachers by claiming to be cybercrime inspectors. They are attempting to pressure them by threatening legal action over the phone. Complaints of multiple teachers at the same school receiving calls from the same number have made the matter more serious.

The association says that the fraudsters likely have access to teachers' personal and institutional information. Therefore, it is important to investigate how and from where teachers' data is reaching the fraudsters.

Questions raised on the security of VSK app

Virendra Dubey, State President of the School Teachers' Association, has expressed concern about the security of information stored in the Education Department's digital system. He has demanded that the government and the department investigate the security of data available on the VSK app and other digital portals.

The union says that if the confidential information of teachers has been misused, then responsibility should be fixed and action should be taken against the culprits.

Warning of agitation if investigation is not done

Jitendra Sharma, the union's provincial media in-charge, has demanded an investigation into the source of the suspicious calls and how the fraudsters accessed teachers' information. The organization has warned that if the matter is not investigated promptly and digital security is not ensured, a movement may be launched.
