Sports talents from Bastar to Surguja got a big platform to showcase their abilities.
Raipur, November 2026/Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai today attended the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the Chhattisgarh Hockey League held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Hockey Stadium in the capital Raipur. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated and wished the winning and runner-up teams as well as the players who performed exceptionally well in the competition. He said that the Chhattisgarh Hockey League is an important initiative towards encouraging sports talent in the state. This event has provided players from different regions of the state an opportunity to showcase their talent and learn from experienced players at the national and international level.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that there is no shortage of sports talent in Chhattisgarh. Our villages, tribal areas, and remote regions possess immense sporting talent. What is needed is to provide them with appropriate opportunities, modern training, and improved sports facilities. To this end, the state government is continuously working to expand sports infrastructure and encourage talented athletes.
The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh Hockey League has done a commendable job of uniting the different regions of the state through sports. Six teams participated in the competition—Rajdhani Royals, Nyaydhani Knights, Sanskardhani Strikers, Chakradhar Champions, Bailadila Bulls, and Mainpat Titans. The participation of these six teams made this event a sports festival for the entire Chhattisgarh. Players from Bastar to Surguja, Raigarh to Rajnandgaon had the opportunity to play together, share experiences, and hone their athletic abilities.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that a major feature of this league was the participation of one Olympic athlete on each team. This provided the state's young players with the opportunity to share the field with experienced international players and learn the nuances of the game. Such events play an important role in boosting the confidence of young players and preparing them for future major competitions.
He said that the Chhattisgarh Hockey League's message, "Chalav Re Sangi, Hockey Khelbo," has emerged as an inspiring mantra to connect the state's youth with the sports field. Another special feature of this event was that the broadcast of the competition matches was arranged on JioHotstar. This allowed the talent of Chhattisgarh's players to reach a wider audience. The arrangement of commentary in Chhattisgarhi language along with Hindi made the event more intimate and connected to the local culture. Along with the thrill of hockey, the sweetness of Chhattisgarhi language also reached the audience.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that the state government is committed to identifying, encouraging, and providing better training to sports talent. To this end, the Chief Minister's Sports Excellence Mission has been launched. Through this mission, efforts will be made to identify hidden sports talent in villages and remote areas and connect them with training centers. The government's objective is to ensure that no talented athlete's dream remains unfulfilled due to lack of resources.
