CG News: Chhattisgarh government takes a big decision, now vehicles that have run for so many years will be scrapped...
Raipur. The state government has decided to scrap all government and non-government vehicles older than 15 years. This decision was taken following a directive from the Expenditure Department of the Union Finance Ministry. The Transport Department has sent a letter to all departments and department heads, asking them to immediately provide a list of such vehicles. According to the Department of Expenditure's orders, a provision for assistance has also been made based on the number of vehicles to be scrapped.
The Transport Department has set a target of scrapping 2,000 government and 4,000 non-government vehicles. The government aims to update vehicles and reduce pollution caused by old vehicles.
A meeting has been scheduled for November 21st at Mahanadi Bhawan, chaired by the Secretary of the Transport Department. At the meeting, department officials will be required to provide information on vehicles older than 15 years, including the registration number, the person who allotted the vehicle, the name of the organization, the vehicle's publicity, whether the vehicle is currently in operation, and the method used to scrap vehicles if they have been scrapped before.
25% discount on buying a new car
According to Transport Department officials, anyone who scraps a vehicle at a registered scrapping center will receive a 25 percent tax rebate on purchasing a new vehicle. An online certificate, called a Certificate of Deposit, will also be issued. This certificate will be valid at all automobile dealerships in Chhattisgarh.
