Continuous monitoring of elephant activities, villagers alerted
Jashpur Nagar . The life of an injured woman was saved this morning due to the prompt action of the Forest Department in the situation created by the arrival of a lone elephant in the Sukharapara area of the Pathalgaon Forest Range under the Jashpur Forest Division. The DFO of the Jashpur Forest Division said that the elephant was moving towards the Sukharapara area via the Kapu Forest Range and the Dharamjaigarh Forest Division.
Meanwhile, 60-year-old Kamalabai, wife of Madinsai Raut, a resident of village Sukharapara, had gone to see the fish in the pond in the field. Suddenly, when she came face to face with an elephant, the elephant picked her up with its trunk and threw her into the field, leaving her seriously injured. On receiving information about the incident, Forest Department officials and RRT team immediately reached the spot. Without any delay, the team safely picked up the injured woman and took her to Civil Hospital, Pathalgaon, where her treatment is going on. The Forest Department has also provided immediate assistance as per rules.
The DFO stated that forest personnel and RRT members have been deployed in the area to continuously monitor elephant activity. Public announcements are also being made in surrounding villages, advising villagers to remain vigilant and avoid entering forests and potentially dangerous areas. The Forest Department has appealed to all villagers to adhere to safety guidelines issued by the department and to immediately report any elephant or other wild animal activity to local forest officials so that necessary action can be taken in a timely manner.
