Raipur. Governor Ramen Deka held a meeting with the Registrars of various government universities of the state on Tuesday and conducted a detailed review of various important topics including the educational quality of the universities, number of students, vacant posts, implementation of National Education Policy-2020 and innovation and startup activities.  

The Governor took information about the efforts being made to increase the number of students in proportion to the seats in the universities and gave instructions to work in this direction on priority. He said that wherever there are systemic deficiencies in the universities, they should be removed and the educational quality should be continuously improved.Reviewing the effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, he directed that all universities should have Professors of Practice in accordance with the National Education Policy.

The Governor took stock of vacant positions in universities and directed that they be filled promptly. He said that efforts should be made to prioritize qualified and talented local people in the recruitment process, as per the rules, so that local talent can get opportunities.

Deka reviewed the status of the NAAC and NIRF rankings of universities. He urged all universities to develop a clear roadmap to improve their rankings.

The Governor directed universities to adopt villages nearby and promote innovation and startup activities there. He emphasized that the knowledge, expertise, and resources available in universities should reach rural areas. Special attention should be paid to connecting students with innovation and entrepreneurship to address local problems.

He gave instructions to increase the active participation of youth in the 'Drug Free Youth, Developed India' resolution campaign and to encourage students for sports. 
The Governor directed that internal audits be mandatory in universities and that internal committees be formed for this purpose. He emphasized the need to ensure fair, transparent, and leak-proof examination systems, and to ensure the official appointment of examination controllers in all universities.
He also directed to pay special attention to the arrangements of private medical colleges run under AYUSH University, so that the functioning of these institutions is ensured as per the prescribed standards and rules.The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Governor Dr. C.R. Prasanna, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary Agriculture Department Dr. Siddharth Komal Pardeshi, Secretary Higher Education Department Avinash Champawat, Commissioner Medical Education Department Ritesh Agrawal, along with concerned officials and Registrars of various government universities of the state.
