Barse Deva, the commander of the Naxalite battalion number 1 in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, may surrender.
Barse Deva, the commander of the Naxalite's most dangerous battalion, No. 1, in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, may surrender. It is being reported that a safe corridor is being prepared for him in the Sukma area to exit the jungle. If Barse Deva surrenders, the Naxalite's most dangerous military wing, the PLGA Battalion No. 1, will be virtually destroyed.
In fact, on November 18th, Madvi Hidma, a Central Committee member of the Naxalites, was killed in an encounter in Alluri Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. Following Hidma's encounter, the Naxalite organization in Bastar has been shattered. Hidma was the only link that held the Maoist organization together with Bastar.
Hidma and Barse Deva both belonged to the same village.
Hidma was a resident of Poorvarti village. Barse Deva, also from Poorvarti village in Sukma district, also hailed from the same village. About two years ago, when Hidma was inducted into the Central Committee, he appointed Barse Deva as the commander of PLGA Battalion No. 1.
Deva had a large number of Naxalites with him. But now, due to increasing police pressure and frequent encounters, the battalion has almost disbanded.
Battalion has more influence in 3 districts
Naxalite Battalion No. 1 is considered the most dangerous unit of the Naxalite organization. The battalion has had significant influence in the three districts of Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma. However, the armed forces have now significantly put this unit on the back foot. This unit comprised hundreds of Naxalites armed with weapons such as AK-47s, INSAS rifles, SLRs, and sniper guns.
This same Naxalite team carried out major attacks in Tekalgudem, Burkapal, Minpa, Tadmetla, and Tahkwara, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds of soldiers. However, this team has now become weak. Deva is now seeking to surrender.
It is also known that he has sent his message abroad through some channel. If Deva surrenders, his battalion will be disbanded. There will be no Naxalite to lead it.
This is Deva's profile
Deva Barse (48), also known as Hemla Deval, Devlu alias Devanna, Barse Sukka, and Sainath, is a SZCM cadre in the Naxalite organization. He is currently in charge of PLGA Battalion 1.
He is also a member of the South Sub-Zonal Bureau. He carries an AK-47 weapon. The Chhattisgarh government has announced a reward of approximately 2.5 million rupees for his arrest.
The Home Minister met his mother
In fact, Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma visited Poorvarti village a few days ago. There, he met the mothers of Deva and Hidma and through them, appealed to them to surrender.
Hidma, however, refused to budge and was killed in a police encounter in the forests of Andhra Pradesh, along with his wife Raje and six companions. Deva Barse is now attempting to surrender in Chhattisgarh.
7 out of 15 area committees remain, division also ends
According to Bastar IG Sundarraj P, a total of seven divisions and 15 area committees of Naxalites were active in Bastar. Naxalites have been virtually eliminated in the Maad division, Keshkal, and Darbha divisions.
There are some Naxalites in the West Bastar Division. But now only a few isolated Naxalites remain in the seven Area Committees. Only 120 to 150 armed Naxalites are active in the Dandakaranya region. If these Naxalites are eliminated, Naxalism will be virtually eradicated.
