BREAKING: Cabinet meeting concludes, major decisions taken including relief in electricity bills
Raipur. In the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan here today, apart from giving concession in electricity bills to domestic electricity consumers of the state, other important decisions were taken –
Chief Minister's Energy Relief Public Campaign (M-URJA) – The Chief Minister's Energy Relief Public Campaign, which provides relief to domestic electricity consumers in the state, is in effect from December 1, 2025. Under this campaign, domestic electricity consumers will receive a 50 percent discount on their electricity bills, up to 200 units per month, up from 100 units. This benefit will also be available to consumers consuming up to 400 units.
Consumers consuming 200 to 400 units of electricity in the state will get the benefit of 50 percent discount in electricity bill for up to 200 units for the next one year. This will benefit 6 lakh consumers, so that during this period they can install solar plants in their homes under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme.
In this way, 42 lakh consumers of the state will be benefited from the Chief Minister Energy Relief Public Campaign, while all the consumers of the state will get the benefit of the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Mukt Bijli Yojana.
It is worth noting that the state government is providing subsidies under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, which provides an additional subsidy of ₹15,000 for a 1-kilowatt solar plant and ₹30,000 for plants with a capacity of 2 kilowatts or more. This scheme will encourage the adoption of solar energy in the state and, in the future, will move consumers from half-rate electricity to free electricity.
It was decided to amend the Chhattisgarh Stores Purchase Rules, 2002, to encourage procurement from local small and micro industries and to provide clarity on procurement procedures on the GeM portal. These amendments will simplify the procurement process, increase transparency, foster competition, and save time and resources.
The draft of Chhattisgarh Private University (Establishment and Operation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was approved by the Council of Ministers.
The Council of Ministers approved the draft Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments Amendment Bill, 2025, to amend the Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017 (No. 21 of 2018). This will promote ease of doing business reforms and employment.
