Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana portal for the 2025-26 Rabi season. This scheme provides farmers with a protective shield against losses caused by natural disasters such as adverse weather, drought, floods, waterlogging, pests, and hailstorms. Last year, based on crop harvesting experiments, claims worth ₹48.62 crore were paid to 28,037 farmers in the district. This year, farmers in more than 420 notified villages in the district can insure their Rabi crops. The deadline for insurance is December 31, 2025.
This time, notified crops such as irrigated wheat, unirrigated wheat, gram, linseed, and mustard can be insured. All types of farmers, including indebted, non-indebted, landholders, and sharecroppers, can participate in the scheme. Any interested farmer sowing a notified crop in the notified villages can avail of this scheme. As per the premium rates, farmers will have to deposit Rs 690 per hectare for irrigated wheat, Rs 405 for unirrigated wheat, Rs 645 for gram, Rs 315 for linseed and Rs 375 for mustard.Farmers can obtain crop insurance through their nearest bank branch, rural bank, district cooperative central bank, service cooperative society, public service center, or the Government of India's insurance portal. The administration has appealed to farmers to insure their crops before the deadline so that they can receive financial security in the event of any natural disaster.
