Marriage registration is mandatory in Chhattisgarh
According to this order, those married after January 29, 2016, must register their marriage within the stipulated timeframe. The government has explained the reasoning behind making marriage registration mandatory, saying it will prevent fake and sham marriages. It will also curb malpractices like child marriage and strengthen women's legal rights.

How to register?
Marriage registration can be done through the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, District Panchayat, or through the authorized online portal. If you live in a municipal area, your registration will be done at the Municipal Corporation office.
Marriage registration can also be done through Choice Centers. The fee for registration within one month of the wedding is ₹20. If the registration is done after one month, the fee will be ₹520.
What documents are required?
Applicants seeking a marriage certificate must be Indian citizens by birth. The spouses must be of legal age according to Indian law. It is mandatory to apply for a marriage certificate within one month of the marriage.
However, a marriage certificate can still be applied for at any time after that, but requires a late fee and special permission from the marriage registrar. If the applicant was previously married and is now divorced, they must first obtain a divorce certificate for the new marriage.
