Chhattisgarh became the best state in the country, got the first prize in crop insurance schemes
Chhattisgarh has once again established a strong national presence. The state has been recognized as the best state in the country for its excellent implementation of the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme and the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme under the Chhattisgarh Best State Award. For this achievement, Chhattisgarh's Agriculture and Horticulture Departments were jointly awarded the first prize.
The Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister congratulated the department's officials and employees on this major success of the state government. They said that this recognition is a matter of pride for the farmers of Chhattisgarh and proves that the state government's farmer-friendly policies are moving in the right direction. The effective implementation of crop insurance schemes has ensured timely compensation for farmers and financial security during natural disasters.
This prestigious award was presented during the 13th National Review Conference held in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, on January 18 and 19, 2026. Representatives from several states across the country attended the event, where the performance of various schemes was reviewed. Neeraj Shaha, Joint Director in charge of the Horticulture Department, received the award on stage on behalf of Chhattisgarh.
According to experts, Chhattisgarh's crop insurance schemes have been implemented in a transparent manner. The farmer registration, loss assessment, and payment processes have been relatively simple and timely, earning the state this honor.
