A cultural evening was organized on the evening of the second day of Sahitya Mahotsav 2026 at the Vinod Kumar Shukla Mandap. On this occasion, a poetry recitation was organized in memory of the former Prime Minister of the country, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Poets from various cities paid tribute to him through their works. Shri Buddhinath Mishra, a renowned lyricist from Dehradun, shared his experiences with Atal ji, saying that once at a poetry conference in Delhi, Atal ji sat until the last moment to listen to me. After I finished my poem, he came on stage, patted my back, and said, "You have saved the honor of Hindi." Mr. Mishra mesmerized the audience with his couplets, "What have you left? The stars of the songs have set untimely/ Now you too have become the new August among the sages of the Saptak" and his Muktakas. Mr. Ajay Saheb from Mumbai captivated the audience with his ghazals. Mr. Aman Akshar from Indore sang soulful songs like "Those eyes are in dire need of glasses/ Who cannot see their parents' broken glasses." Mr. Trilok Chandra Mahawar from Raipur recited poems like "How am I surrounded by grave sins/ That today I have fallen from their sight/ The sun returns from the balcony/ Space was my father." Ghazal writer Mr. Harshraj Harsh from Gharghoda created the atmosphere with couplets and couplets like "Mother also calls me 'Kanha-Kanha'/ Trust in everyone is waning/ Time is slipping away/ Whatever I earn and bring home every day/ Is getting spent on its own." Poetess Ms. Swati Khushboo began the poetry recitation with a Saraswati Vandana. Dr. Anshu Jogi read compositions on women's issues like Women grow up in the swing of eyelashes. Mr. Rahul Awasthi from Kolkata presented poems full of patriotism like When darkness prevails/ When the path is not visible/ Only the decision of victorious ancestors/ Will show the best path, Love is our basic religion/ We will divide the whole world.
