New Rules From Today: These rules related to FASTag, cigarettes, tobacco will change from today

Business Desk: Starting Sunday, February 1, 2026, several important regulations will undergo changes that will directly impact the public's finances. These include LPG, PNG, CNG, Fastag, credit cards, cigarettes, and tobacco products. Let's explore the changes that will take effect on February 1.

Change in LPG cylinder prices

Oil marketing companies review the prices of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders every month. If necessary, the prices of 14.2 kg domestic and 19 kg commercial cylinders can be increased or decreased. Even before the budget, on February 1st, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinders was increased by ₹50.

Cigarettes and tobacco products will become more expensive

A new tax will be imposed on cigarettes, tobacco, and other tobacco products across the country. This tax will increase prices due to increased excise duties and cess. This tax will be separate from the GST.

CNG, PNG and ATF prices also affected

Like LPG, the prices of CNG, PNG, and aviation fuel (ATF) are also reviewed monthly. While CNG is used for vehicles, PNG is supplied to homes through pipelines for cooking. ATF is used as aviation fuel.

KYC will no longer be required for FASTag

The need for KYC verification for FASTags will be completely eliminated from February 1. Under the new rules, only the banks issuing FASTags will be required to conduct the necessary verification.
