A new chapter has been added to the biodiversity of Chhattisgarh.

Raipur . Honey badger is found in very limited areas in India and is considered a rare species. It is known for its extraordinary bravery, aggressive nature and strong skin. It is called honey badger because of its habit of extracting honey from beehives and eating it. There is an atmosphere of excitement in the area due to the sighting of a pair of rare wildlife animals, Honey Badger (Rattle) in Usad village area under Marwahi range of Marwahi forest division. The presence of this rare creature has been confirmed through photos and videos taken by the villagers on mobile phones. The sighting of honey badger, found in limited areas of India, in Marwahi area is an indication of the rich biodiversity and strengthening ecosystem here.

Provides safe habitat to rare wildlife

It is noteworthy that under the guidance of Forest Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap and the leadership of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Shri Arun Kumar Pandey, the positive results of the ongoing wildlife conservation schemes and efforts are now clearly visible in the state. Due to these efforts, rare wildlife species are now able to find safe habitats. The state government's priority is wildlife conservation, biodiversity enhancement, and preservation of natural heritage, so that future generations can enjoy a safe and prosperous environment.

The pair of honey badgers were safely released into the wild.

On receiving information about the presence of the rare wild animal Honey Badger (Rattle), the Forest Department team immediately reached the spot and taking protective measures, the pair of Honey Badgers was safely sent to the forest. During this, there was no loss of life or animal. The department has further strengthened the monitoring system in the concerned area. Honey Badger is known for its extraordinary courageous nature, strong skin and nocturnal nature. On this occasion, Marwahi Forest Divisional Officer Mrs. Grishmi Chand appealed to the villagers not to go near the wild animals or disturb them. She also said that on seeing any wild animal, immediately inform the Forest Department.

It's worth noting that, despite being relatively small compared to larger predators, the honey badger doesn't shy away from a fight, even against animals many times larger than itself. Lions, hyenas, and even venomous snakes are often driven away by the honey badger's tenacious stance and impressive survival skills.
