120 former Naxalites arrived to watch the assembly proceedings.

Raipur. Today was a historic day in the Chhattisgarh Assembly. The Speaker informed the House that 120 rehabilitated Naxalites had come to witness the proceedings. The Speaker said that those who did not believe in the Indian Constitution for decades had joined the mainstream and come to see the democratic system up close. The House was informed that the visitors included 54 women and 66 men. Upon receiving this information, all members present in the House applauded and welcomed them. On this occasion, the Home Minister stated that the group included everyone from top leaders of the Naxalite organization to lower-level workers. He stated that the top leaders were seated in the Speaker's gallery. The Home Minister said that those who were previously on the path of "gun system" were now joining the mainstream of the "republic." He described this as a major success of the state's rehabilitation policy and peace process. The Assembly saw this occasion as a symbol of the strengthening of democracy and a return to the mainstream of society. Earlier last night, Chhattisgarh Home Minister Vijay Sharma hosted a special dinner with surrendered Naxalites at his residence in Naya Raipur. Approximately 100 former Naxalites, including Naxal leader Satish, attended the event. According to reports, these Naxalites surrendered after being impressed by the government's rehabilitation policy. During the dinner, the Naxalites and the government discussed the process of mainstreaming and future plans.
