A new ray of savings and light has come to Hira Ram's home.
00 The resolve of energy self-reliance is being realised through the Prime Minister's Surya Ghar Yojana
Raipur. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister's Surya Ghar Yojana, which was started with the aim of making the country energy self-reliant and providing clean and renewable energy to the people, is becoming a medium of positive change in the lives of common citizens. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, effective implementation of this scheme is being ensured in Chhattisgarh state, as a result of which today citizens are not only getting relief in electricity expenses, but are also taking strong steps towards environmental protection and energy self-reliance.

Mr. Hira Ram Sahu, a resident of Kharmora in Korba district, is one of the citizens benefiting from this scheme. He learned about the scheme through the media. After learning about its features and other information, he decided to install solar panels at his residence. In June 2025, he installed a 3-kilowatt solar plant at his home, costing approximately ₹210,000. The total cost was ₹78,000 from the central government and ₹30,000 from the state government. This combined government support of ₹18,000 reduced his financial burden and enabled him to easily reap the benefits of the scheme.
He has a family of four. Previously, his household's electricity usage was moderate, and the monthly electricity bill was a regular expense. After installing the panels, his dependence on conventional electricity has virtually disappeared. Currently, his monthly electricity bill ranges from ₹30 to ₹70. This savings provides him with considerable financial support after retirement.
Mr. Hira Ram Sahu, formerly employed with CSEB and currently retired, expressed his delight, saying that the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana is truly useful and beneficial for the public. It has reduced household expenses and promoted environmental protection through the use of clean and green energy. Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Mr. Modi and Chief Minister Mr. Sahu, he said that the government's public welfare schemes are bringing real change to the lives of citizens.
