Lakshmi and Phoolodevi filed their nominations for the Rajya Sabha elections.
Raipur. Amidst the ongoing political activity surrounding the Rajya Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh, Laxmi Verma from the BJP and Phoolodevi Netam from the Congress submitted their nomination papers at the Assembly building. The likelihood of both being elected unopposed is considered almost certain.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, BJP National Vice President Ms. Saroj Pandey, BJP State President Kiran Dev, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Ministers Kedar Kashyap, Tank Ram Verma, Dayaldas Baghel, Laxmi Rajwade, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Guru Khushwant Saheb, Gajendra Yadav, MP Devendra Pratap Singh, Brijmohan Agrawal, Vijay Baghel, former Minister and MLA Ajay Chandrakar, former Assembly Speaker and MLA Dharamlal Kaushik, along with ministers, BJP MLAs, BJP officials and workers were present during the nomination of BJP candidate Laxmi Verma. Laxmi Verma submitted three sets of nomination papers.
On the other hand, the Congress party decided to field sitting Rajya Sabha MP Phoolodevi Netam again. Following this, the BJP changed its strategy and Naveen Markandey did not file his nomination. Several Congress MLAs, including Leader of the Opposition Charandas Mahant, were present at the nomination of Congress candidate Phoolodevi Netam.
