'Kriti Kirana Store' changed the fortunes of 'Lakhpati Didi' Karatam Savita
Earning 8 to 10 thousand rupees per month
Over 5500 women became Lakhpati Didi through 4 Seva Express in Sukma
Raipur, 29/ Mrs. Kartam Savita of Niad Nellanar village Polampalli, under the Konta development block of the district, has proved that if hard work is supported by the right government schemes, the path to self-reliance becomes easier for rural women. By joining the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission and the 'Lakhpati Didi' campaign, run under the guidance of District CEO Mr. Mukund Thakur, Savita has created a respectable and sustainable source of income for her family, leaving behind the life of a laborer.
Karatam Savita explains that her family previously relied on manual labor and odd jobs, which consistently weakened her financial situation. However, after joining the Priya Self-Help Group, she found a new direction. She took a loan of 60,000 rupees from the group and started Kriti Grocery Store, which has strengthened her family financially and established her identity as a successful female entrepreneur in the village.
Today, Savita's grocery store generates a net income of 1 to 2 lakh rupees annually. This income has become not only a financial windfall but also the foundation of her self-confidence and her family's well-being. Savita explains that she no longer has to scramble for work; instead, the shop provides a regular income, bringing peace and prosperity to her family. All family members support her business, ensuring her children's education and future.
Collector Mr. Amit Kumar said that through Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission and 'Lakhpati Didi' campaign, work is being done at a fast pace to economically empower the women of the district by connecting them with self-employment. He informed that under the innovative initiative in the district, 4 Seva Expresses are being operated to connect women of remote areas with self-help groups, through which till now about 5 and a half thousand women have been made self-reliant as 'Lakhpati Didi', which is a big and historic achievement for the district. Lakhpati Didi Yojana is not only providing financial support to women, but also self-confidence, respect and a new identity.
Expressing delight at her success, Mrs. Savita said that government schemes have given wings to the dreams of rural women. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, she said that initiatives like the Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihood Mission and the "Lakhpati Didi" campaign gave her the opportunity to leave her working as a laborer and establish her own business. Today, she proudly declares herself self-reliant, and many rural women like her are forging new identities through government schemes.
