The Urs of Hazrat Syed Sultan Pir will be celebrated with great pomp and show, preparations have begun at the shrine in Injko, an example of social harmony.
Pathalgaon. The annual Urs of Baba Hazrat Syed Sultan Pir will be celebrated with great pomp on March 26th. Religious programs will be held at Baba's shrine in Madanpur Injko. Devotees from far-flung areas will participate in the event. A community feast will also be organized on this occasion.
While discrimination and separatism are rampant in the name of faith, the shrine of Baba Hazrat Syed Sultan Pir, located at Madanpur Inzco in Pathalgaon, is considered a symbol of religious harmony and brotherhood for both Hindus and Muslims. This shrine was established by the late Pandit Ramdhari Sharma and his wife, the late Geeta Devi Sharma.
Today, Ashok Sharma, his son, and family members maintain it. Baba's followers include people from various religions. Baba's Urs is celebrated annually by his devotees on the first Thursday of the bright fortnight of Chaitra month. On this occasion, special prayers are offered at Baba's shrine. In addition to the city and surrounding rural areas,Baba's devotees from Ambikapur, Raigarh, Kansabel, Pratapgarh, Calcutta and Delhi also participate in the Urs. Baba's ardent devotee Ashok Sharma said that this year too Baba's annual Urs is to be celebrated on Thursday, March 26. He said that preparations for this have been completed. Religious programs will be organized here on Thursday from 3 pm to 10 pm. First of all, special prayers will be offered at Baba's tomb. The process of covering the grave with a sheet will begin here in the afternoon.
He explained that throughout the year, devotees visit Baba's shrine to make wishes. Upon their wishes being fulfilled, devotees offer chadars at Baba's shrine. These chadars are then distributed to the needy on the day of the Urs. A large number of devotees also arrive on the day of the Urs to offer chadars at Baba's shrine.
Devotees also offer incense, perfume, and offerings at Baba's tomb. He added that during the Chadar Poshida ceremony, clerics will also recite the Fatiha at the tomb.
Offerings of wishes will be offered.There's also a tradition of organizing a feast here on the occasion of the Urs. Thousands of Baba's devotees collectively partake of Baba's offerings. During this feast, the distinctions between Hindus, Muslims, and Christians are erased, and all devotees sit together and eat. Baba's devotee, Ashok Sharma, stated that a feast will be organized here this year as well on the occasion of the Urs.
He explained that the prasad from the bhandara will first be offered to Baba. After this, it will be distributed among Baba's devotees. Every year, a Savamani offering is also made here. He explained that devotees who have pledged to offer Savamani Prasad will offer it to Baba. After the Chadar Poshida, the prasad will be distributed to the devotees.
