Raipur. Blackbucks were released into their natural habitat at Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary to roam freely. A total of 34 blackbucks were successfully released into their natural habitat in two phases using scientific methods from the Blackbuck Conservation Center located in the sanctuary. This year, the target is to reintroduce 60 blackbucks.

The blackbuck translocation process was executed following completely scientific techniques, allowing the deer to be released into the forest area without any disturbance. The released deer have joined the blackbucks residing in the Rampur Grassland. Officials stated that this new group of blackbucks will bring positive changes to the area's ecosystem, and the Forest Department will continuously monitor them in the coming days. Blackbucks, once extinct from Chhattisgarh, will now thrive in their natural habitat through this reintroduction effort.

It is noteworthy that active efforts are being made for the conservation of blackbucks in Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary under the guidance of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Arun Pandey, under the able leadership of Chief Conservator of Forests Wildlife Satovisha Samjhaajar and by Divisional Forest Officer Dhammasheel Ganvir.

During this important conservation campaign, Superintendent Barnawapara Krishanu Chandrakar, Range Officer Ms. Kavita Thakur, Mr. Suryaprakash Jadhav, Assistant Range Officer Geetesh Banjare, Field Biologist, Saurav Mehra, Veterinary Doctor Jayakishore Jadiya and all the staff of Barnawapara Sanctuary were present.
