- Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is ensuring livelihood, respect and self-reliance along with the dream of pucca houses.
Raipur—Chhattisgarh has established its unique identity across the country by achieving historic milestones in the current financial year under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (Prime Minister Rural Housing Scheme). The state has not only achieved first place nationally by completing the highest number of housing constructions, but has also surpassed larger states like Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Expressing delight at this achievement, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma extended his best wishes to the people of the state and beneficiaries.
He said that under the effective implementation of the scheme by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Chhattisgarh has also set an example of excellent financial management by incurring the highest expenditure in the country through 'SNA Sparsh'. This year also recorded the highest number of housing constructions in a single financial year since the scheme's inception in 2016, which reflects the state's efficiency and commitment.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sharma stated that thousands of women have found employment through the supply of construction materials under the innovative "Awas Se Aajeevika" initiative. More than 9,000 Bihan Didis, having gained employment, are setting a new example of self-reliance by becoming "Lakhpati Didis." Furthermore, this year, more than 6,000 masons were trained through ITI, the highest in the country.
It is noteworthy that these trained masons include 1,400 women and over 400 surrendered Naxalites, who are writing a new story of development by joining the mainstream. Large-scale individual work has also been undertaken through Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) to connect PM Awas Gramin beneficiaries with sustainable livelihoods, strengthening the rural economy.
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, the government is continuously striving to bring about positive change in rural development and the lives of the poor. He said that through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, not only is the dream of permanent homes being realized, but people's livelihood, dignity, and self-reliance are also being ensured. The state will continue to reach new heights of development with the same pace and commitment.
