Congress and opposition parties will have to bear the consequences of this heinous crime committed against women - Sai
00 We will remove all obstacles and ensure that women get the constitutional right of 33% reservation
00 Due to the negative attitude and evil deeds of the Congress, the date of 17th April has been recorded as a black chapter: Singh
Raipur. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Bharatiya Janata Party's National General Secretary Arun Singh have strongly targeted the allies of the Indian alliance including Congress for not allowing the Nari Shakti Vandan (Amendment) Act to be passed in the Lok Sabha. In an important press conference called at the state office located in Kushabhau Thackeray complex here on Sunday, the two leaders said that Congress and the opposition parties will have to bear the consequences of this great sin committed against women.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that to empower half of our country's population, our mothers and sisters, to participate in the country's development and ensure their 33 percent leadership in the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies, the Nari Shakti Vandan (Amendment) Act was introduced under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and was discussed in a special session of Parliament. Prior to the Parliament session convened from April 16th to 18th, a positive atmosphere prevailed throughout the country and state. Women across the country were filled with enthusiasm and excitement about this Act. Numerous programs were held across the country expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi. Unfortunately, the joy of our mothers and sisters was not realized due to the stubborn and anti-women political stance of the Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK, and Samajwadi Party. Mr. Sai said that women have a revered place in our country. Respecting their brilliant intellect, we were going to honor women by giving them their rights in national politics. But by creating obstacles in this, the Indi alliance has committed the sin of doing grave injustice to women power.
State Chief Minister Mr. Sai, while detailing the 50 percent reservation for women in Panchayats, other women's empowerment schemes implemented by the previous BJP government during Dr. Raman Singh's tenure as Chief Minister, as well as the women's welfare schemes implemented by the current Central and State BJP governments, said that the BJP government has always protected the constitutional rights and dignity of women at every level. Today, women's leadership in the three-tier Panchayats has increased from 50 to 57 percent. Similarly, women's representation in the State Assembly is approximately 22 percent. Mr. Sai said that following the British policy of divide and rule, the Congress party has only been talking about women's reservation for the past three decades. However, whenever the time comes to take meaningful initiative and enact legislation, the Congress party turns its back on it, and this same character has been demonstrated this time too. By negotiating delimitation, religion-based reservations, and despicable attempts to create North-South animosity, the Congress party prevented the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. This is a blatant betrayal and insult to our nation's 700 million mothers and sisters. The nation's women will certainly not forgive the Indi alliance for this, and the entire opposition, including the Congress, will have to suffer the consequences. Mr. Sai stated that despite the bill's failure to pass, the BJP's resolve remains unshaken, and by removing all obstacles in the way of this act, we will ensure the nation's women gain the constitutional right to 33 percent reservation.
BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said that due to the Congress party's negative attitude and misdeeds regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, which provides for women's reservation, April 17th has been etched into a dark chapter. By opposing women's reservation, the Congress party has insulted the women of the country, and the women of the country will forever remember this insult and teach the Congress a lesson. Mr. Singh stated that whenever the issue of women's interests and rights has arisen, the Congress party has always harassed them. On issues like the Shah Bano case and the Triple Talaq law, the Congress party has consistently betrayed women. Discussing the three-decade-long process of women's reservation, Mr. Singh stated that every time, the Congress party and its allies opposed it, and even tore the Women's Reservation Bill to pieces in Parliament. The Women's Reservation Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha in 2010, but it was not introduced in the Lok Sabha for years. This is the Congress party's thinking.
BJP National General Secretary Shri Singh said that the Central Government had introduced three bills in the Lok Sabha, including the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, related to women's reservation. There was unprecedented enthusiasm among women across the country regarding the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. They, along with all sections of society, were confident that the bill would be passed. However, the Congress party opposed the bill with its fabricated arguments and cunning thinking. Most shameful, when the bill, which provided reservation for women, was defeated, while women were in tears, the opposition parties, including the Congress, celebrated in Parliament by clapping, thumping tables, and walking out of the House. Shri Singh said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah provided a concise and satisfactory response to all the fabricated arguments of the Congress party. Prime Minister Shri Modi even assured the opposition of the bill's passage, but the Congress and the opposition were not clear-minded. Prime Minister Shri Modi wanted the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill, passed in 2023, to be implemented before the 2029 elections. Mr. Singh said that since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government and the BJP/NDA state governments have accomplished so much for the welfare of women that the Congress and the opposition cannot even imagine. Discussing in detail the women-development-focused schemes implemented by the central government and the Chhattisgarh government, Mr. Singh said that because of these efforts, the country's women have unwavering faith in Prime Minister Mr. Modi.
BJP National General Secretary Shri Singh said that when questions are being raised about the need for delimitation, it is worth considering that according to the 1971 census, the population was 54 crore, while today the population is 140 crore. In some Lok Sabha constituencies, the population has reached 28 to 38 lakh, so those seats should be decided in proportion to the population. In the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the number of seats in Chhattisgarh would increase to 135 and 18, respectively. This is also the basic spirit of the Constitution. Congress also objects to delimitation based on the same basis without making even the slightest change to the Delimitation Act. Congress constantly accuses our constitutional institutions. The BJP will go to the booth-mandal level on this issue and expose the Congress's lies and anti-women nature, accurately exposing the BJP's viewpoint. Congress, in collaboration with opposition parties, has committed the sin of betraying women, and it will have to suffer the consequences in the future.
BJP State President Kiran Dev, Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, State President of BJP Mahila Morcha Vibha Awasthi, MP Roopkumari Chaudhary, Kamlesh Jangde, Mayor Meenal Choubey, former State Spokesperson (Madhya Pradesh) Ms. Neha Bagga were present in the press conference.
