Cancer-stricken woman admitted to district hospital, Collector gives instructions for better treatment

The patient will be admitted to Mekara for better treatment.

The woman is suffering from stage 4 thyroid cancer and underwent chemotherapy at AIIMS last November.

After treatment at AIIMS and Mekara in Raipur for a year, she was also treated at Tata Memorial Mumbai.

Samlu Markam, a resident of Katabahra (Nagwahi), whose wife Kapura Markam is suffering from the fourth stage of thyroid cancer and is unable to walk, had taken her to the collectorate on his bike. Here, as soon as the collector Shri Gopal Verma came to know about the matter, he immediately called an ambulance and got the victim admitted to the district hospital and directed the chief medical officer for treatment. The woman will be admitted to Raipur for better treatment.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer said that on November 11, after receiving information that Mr. Samlu Markam of village Kantabhara (Nagwahi) was carrying his wife, Mrs. Kapura Markam, suffering from thyroid cancer, for treatment by laying her on his bike, the health department team reached the victim's house on November 12 and she was sent to Mekara Raipur in 108 ambulance for better treatment. Here the woman has been admitted to the Cancer Research Unit where she was treated under the supervision of cancer specialist doctors.

He further stated that upon receiving information about the victim's health problems, a team from the Primary Health Center, Regankhar/Community Health Center, Bodla, Development Block, Bodla, visited the residence of the victim, Kapura Markam, wife of Samlu Markam, in Katabhara (Nagawahi) village. Upon inspection, Mr. Samlu Markam found that Mr. Markam had taken his wife, Kapura Markam, to the Primary Health Center in the Regankhar forest for treatment due to a lump in her throat. The doctor there discussed the patient's condition with district health department officials and referred her to Raipur for treatment. In 2024, she received treatment at AIIMS, Mekara, and several private hospitals, including DKS Hospital, for a year. Subsequently, in January 2025, she received treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, for a month. After treatment, she was brought home. When the victim's condition worsened again, the Health Department took her to Raipur to see specialist doctors for treatment on November 12th. She was admitted to Mekara on November 12th and 13th, and to AIIMS from November 14th to 19th, 2025, where she received chemotherapy. The patient was subsequently discharged on November 20th. She has been recovering at home since then. After her condition worsened, she was admitted to the district hospital today. From there, she will be admitted to Raipur.
