News of pressure to pay for incomplete construction is misleading, Education Department denies

Police investigation continues in the suicide case of the head teacher, the department is providing full cooperation

Raipur. Regarding recent media reports regarding the suicide of a head teacher in Bijapur district, the District Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Bijapur, has clarified the situation, stating that reports alleging pressure to pay for incomplete construction work are baseless and misleading. The clarification issued by the District Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Bijapur, states that given the sensitivity of the matter, the department is fully cooperating with the police investigation in an impartial manner.

According to information received, Mr. Raju Pujari, head teacher at the Majharpara Primary School under Gram Panchayat Palanar, passed away on April 22, 2026, which is a very tragic incident. During the preliminary investigation by the police, some letters were recovered from the deceased, based on which the investigation is ongoing.

The Samagra Shiksha Department has clarified that the construction of the primary school building and additional rooms was carried out through the School Management Committee, of which the head teacher is the ex-officio chairperson. The first installment was paid according to the approved amount for the construction work. After completion of the work, upon receipt of the measurement book, completion certificate, transfer certificate, and photographs, the funds were released through running bills based on progress.

According to the department, construction of both the primary school building and the additional room was completed in February 2026, and the remaining 60 percent of the funds are pending receipt from the state level. No pressure or irregularities have been found in the payment process.

The District Mission Coordinator stated that unverified news published in some newspapers and electronic media is misleading, causing confusion among the public. He appealed that news should be published based only on official information.

The department reiterated that the police are investigating all aspects of this tragic incident, and the Education Department is ensuring cooperation at all levels.
