Where the roads end, healing begins: a ray of hope in the Sukma hills

17 patients referred, 14 Ayushman cards, 11 free spectacles, Swasthya Bastar campaign a huge success

Raipur, 29/ An inspiring initiative has emerged in Sukma district under the Swasthya Bastar Abhiyan, where the health team made commendable efforts to provide better treatment to a patient from a remote and inaccessible area. Under the direction and guidance of Collector Mr. Amit Kumar, the Potkapalli Health Department team transported the patient from Putepadh village first to Kistaram and then to the District Hospital, Sukma. During this journey, the patient traveled a total of 310 kilometers, making timely treatment possible.

This success was possible due to consistent screening, effective counseling, timely referrals, and a robust follow-up system. The coordination of the Sector Medical Officer and the hard work of health workers made this campaign even more effective. This is considered an important step towards providing healthcare facilities in remote areas.

As part of the campaign, a total of 17 patients from the interior villages of Kistaram and Maraiguda were referred to the district hospital. Ayushman cards were printed on the spot for 14 of these patients, ensuring financial savings during treatment. Two patients with asthma and two with swollen feet were also referred for specialized testing and treatment.

Additionally, patients from the Konta area underwent eye examinations and 11 received free eyeglasses, while those suffering from cataracts were advised to undergo surgery. The efforts of health workers from the Maraiguda sector and the Potkapalli team demonstrate that the Swasthya Bastar Abhiyan is truly becoming a life-saving initiative for remote areas.
