Bastar is a confluence of natural wealth and innovation - Governor Deka

Raipur. Governor Ramen Deka today attended the two-day inaugural ceremony of Innovation Mahakumbh 1.0, held at Shaheed Mahendra Karma University, Bastar, as the chief guest. On this occasion, he called for forging a new identity for the region by connecting Bastar's art, culture, and natural resources with innovation.

The mantra of success for youth is "Learn, apply, innovate, and earn."
Addressing the youth, the Governor said that India is the youngest country in the world and its youth have immense potential to become job creators rather than job seekers. Emphasizing the need to embrace entrepreneurship and startup culture, he said that the New Education Policy 2020 is not limited to degrees, but rather lays the foundation for skills and self-reliance. He encouraged the youth to take risks and make better use of technology.
Bastar's Changing Face - From Challenges to Opportunities
The Governor said that Bastar is now on a new path of development, leaving behind its challenges. Referring to the resources available here, such as mahua, tamarind, tendu leaves, and silk, he suggested that instead of selling raw materials, we should brand our products by adding value locally. He explained that mobile phones are the largest market today, where local products can be given a global platform through Instagram, WhatsApp Business, and e-commerce.

Bastar's economic strength will increase with the value addition of Mahua, Tamarind and minor forest produce.

Important events and honours
The Governor released the book Innovation and Startup Compendium to promote innovation. During the programme, he honoured Padmashree Dr. Budhari Tati for his outstanding services. For environmental protection and inclusive development, he stressed the need for conservation of forests and rivers.
Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan
Reiterating his commitment towards the environment, Governor Shri Ramen Deka planted a Maulshree sapling in the university campus under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, MP Mahesh Kashyap, Mayor Sanjay Pandey along with Bastar Commissioner, IG, Collector, SP, Vice Chancellors of various universities and a large number of experts and students from across the country were present at the function.
