Under the campaign, health check-up and treatment of 1,74,770 people was completed.
Raipur, May 13, 2026: In the remote areas of Sukma district, where geography tests us at every step, the Sukma district administration and health department team have written an unparalleled example of dedication. Under the "Chief Minister's Healthy Bastar Campaign," the team reached the remote, inaccessible village of Durbha and gave new life to two innocent children, 5-year-old Madvi Nande and 4-year-old Madvi Sumdi. This proactive approach by the administration proved to be no less than a boon for these girls, weakened by malaria, severe malnutrition, and with only 2 to 3 grams of hemoglobin in their bodies.
Under the guidance of Collector Mr. Amit Kumar, health workers displayed indomitable courage, realizing Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai's pledge of a "healthy Bastar." When the team reached Durbha after crossing dense forests, rivers, and streams, the condition of the children made it a point to immediately transport them to the hospital. After walking miles on difficult roads, the children were brought to the primary health center, from where they were transported by ambulance to the District Hospital, Sukma, approximately 96 kilometers away. This sensitivity of the administration proved that the government's attention is focused on even the most remote people in Bastar.
Specialist doctors at the district hospital began treating the children on a war footing. These children, suffering from anemia and malaria, were not only given blood transfusions, but also provided with a full course of malaria treatment and intensive medical care. This free treatment at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) yielded positive results. Within a few days, the children's hemoglobin levels rose above 9 grams, and smiles returned to their pale faces. During this time, the children's families were also given special counseling on nutrition, hygiene, and mental development to ensure they do not face similar challenges in the future.
After treatment, the children were safely returned to their village. According to Collector Mr. Amit Kumar, this mission wasn't limited to treatment alone; the necessary documentation was also prepared to connect the children with other government welfare schemes. The laughter of these innocent children, who have returned to Durbha village today, echoes the successful efforts of the health department, which is reaching every person, crossing inaccessible mountains and dense forests.
Under the Chief Minister's Healthy Bastar Campaign, a target has been set to conduct health check-ups for a total of 2,93,386 people in Sukma district, out of which 1,74,770 people have been examined and treated till date. During the campaign, about 5,240 patients have been identified on the basis of symptoms of diseases like cataract, malaria, leprosy, TB, anemia, high-risk pregnant women, malnourished children, BP and sugar and have been referred to the Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre and District Hospital for better treatment.
