Over 6,500 metric tonnes of fertilizer stored in Jashpur district, Nano Urea and Nano DAP also available

Raipur. Farmers will not face any shortage of fertilizers, sufficient fertilizers are available for the Kharif season. The Agriculture Department has made extensive preparations to provide quality fertilizers and seeds to farmers on time during the Kharif season 2026. As per the instructions of the Government of India and the State Government, adequate storage of fertilizers has been ensured in the district, so that farmers do not face any shortage during farming.

According to information received from the Agriculture Department, fertilizers and seeds are available in sufficient quantities in the district. For the convenience of farmers and to increase agricultural production, an integrated nutrient management system recommended by scientists is being promoted. Under this system, the use of biofertilizers, organic manures, green manures, and other alternative fertilizers is being encouraged in addition to chemical fertilizers.

More than 19 thousand metric tons of fertilizer target, 40 percent storage completed

Jashpur district has a target of providing 19,150 metric tons of fertilizers to the cooperative sector. Against this target, 7,756 metric tons of fertilizers have been stored so far, representing approximately 40 percent of the total target. Of this, 1,186.12 metric tons have been lifted by farmers, while 6,569.83 metric tons are currently available.

The Agriculture Department says that the available storage is sufficient to meet the requirements of the Kharif season and fertilizers will be made available to the farmers on time.

Nano fertilizers are promoted, thousands of liters of storage available

To promote the balanced use of chemical fertilizers, adequate availability of nano fertilizers has been ensured in the district. Currently, a total of 7,596 liters of nano fertilizers, including 4,128 liters of nano urea and 3,468 liters of nano DAP, have been stored. Of these, 135 liters have been distributed, while 7,463 liters of nano fertilizers are available.

Fertilizers are being distributed to farmers as per their land, crop and scientific recommendations so that all farmers can benefit equally.

Special emphasis on the use of green manure and bio-fertilizers

The Agriculture Department is also encouraging farmers to use green manure and biofertilizers to improve soil fertility and reduce farming costs. Interested farmers are being provided 8 kilograms of lentil seeds and 4 kilograms of mung bean seeds per acre.

Additionally, blue-green algae are being cultivated at the Agricultural Science Center Dumrbahar, the Government Agricultural Farm at Susdega, and on the farms of selected farmers. This biofertilizer stabilizes atmospheric nitrogen, provides natural nutrition to crops, and improves soil quality and fertility.

Agriculture department keeps a close watch on fertilizer sales centers

The Agriculture Department is continuously monitoring the availability of quality fertilizers to farmers at reasonable prices. So far, 75 fertilizer sales centers in the district have been inspected in the 2026 Kharif season. Show-cause notices have been issued to 38 centers for irregularities discovered during the inspections.

The Agriculture Department has clarified that if any irregularity is found in the storage, distribution and sale of fertilizers, strict administrative and legal action will be taken against the concerned sellers under the Fertilizer Control Order 1985 and Essential Commodities Act 1955.

The department has appealed to farmers to purchase manure and fertilizers only from authorized sellers and to immediately notify the Agriculture Department of any complaints. This initiative by the Agriculture Department will ensure timely availability of quality fertilizers to farmers, reduce farming costs, preserve soil fertility, and help achieve better production during the Kharif season.
