13.80 lakh units of green electricity are being produced every month

Raipur, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's ambitious Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme has become a new synonym for green development and energy self-reliance in Chhattisgarh. As a result of the extensive awareness campaigns being run by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, there is huge enthusiasm for solar energy in the state. Raigarh district has emerged as a leader in the entire state by achieving remarkable achievements in this mega-campaign. So far, solar rooftop plants have been successfully installed on the rooftops of 2,705 families in Raigarh district, due to which these families have become completely energy self-reliant.

Achievements of Raigarh district

The 2,705 solar plants installed in Raigarh district have a total capacity of over 11,504 kilowatts. They produce approximately 46,000 units of green electricity per day and approximately 1.38 million units per month. This not only meets consumers' energy needs but also reduces their dependence on traditional energy sources.

Growing public confidence

A total of 6,701 applications have been received so far under the scheme. In May alone, 912 new applications were received, of which 411 homes have already installed solar panels. The district is receiving an average of 228 new applications each week, and more than 100 homes are regularly installing solar panels.

Great relief to consumers in the scorching heat

During this summer, when the use of air conditioners and coolers increases both electricity demand and electricity bills, this scheme is proving to be a safety net for ordinary consumers. Families participating in the scheme are generating most of their own electricity needs, reducing their monthly electricity bills to a negligible level.

The mathematics of subsidies and power generation

According to the Electricity Department, through coordination between the central and state governments, the financial burden on consumers has been minimized. Eligible beneficiaries are being provided with subsidies of up to 1.8 lakh rupees. Easy loans are also available through banks for installing solar plants.

Capacity and production

A 1 kilowatt solar plant produces approximately 120 units of electricity per month. Similarly, a 2 kilowatt solar plant produces approximately 240 units of electricity per month, and a 3 kilowatt solar plant produces approximately 360 units of electricity per month.
