For the first time since independence, the path has been cleared to connect Jashpur to the rail network. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has notified the Dharamjaigarh–Pathalgaon–Lohardaga new rail line project as a special rail project. With this decision, the decades-long demand of the region's residents has reached a decisive milestone.
This ambitious railway line, approximately 291.881 kilometers long, will begin at Dharamjaigarh in Raigarh district and run through Pathalgaon in Jashpur district to Lohardaga in Jharkhand. The project has received formal legal and administrative approval following the publication of a notification in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Railways.
This project is not limited to laying railway tracks; it is being seen as a development revolution that will transform the future of Jashpur and the surrounding forest areas. Until now, the people of Jashpur, lacking rail connectivity, had to travel long distances by road for education, health care, business, and employment.
