Increasing property ownership of women is a big step towards social justice and inclusive development: Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai

Raipur, July 2026/The initiative of 50 percent registration fee rebate, implemented by the state government under Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai to promote women's economic empowerment and property ownership, is yielding encouraging results. According to data from the Registration and Stamps Department, a significant increase has been recorded in property registrations in women's names.

On a comparative analysis of the period from May 06, 2026 to June 30, 2026, with the same period of the previous year, the department found that the share of sale deeds registered in favour of women increased from 32 per cent in 2025 to 41 per cent in 2026. During the same period, the number of documents registered in the name of women increased from 14,668 to 21,292, which shows an increase of about 45 per cent.

Nearly 75 percent of the state's districts have recorded annual growth of more than 20 percent in property registrations in women's names. Several districts, including Janjgir-Champa, Balod, Korea, Raipur, and Kanker, have seen significant progress.

The registration fee waiver provided to women has resulted in direct economic benefits of approximately ₹501.4 million to citizens during this period. This has not only promoted property ownership in women's names but also provided financial relief to families.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the state government is giving top priority to the economic and social empowerment of women. The decision to provide a 50 percent discount on registration fees to encourage property registration in women's names is a result of this thinking. Women's ownership of property provides them with economic security, as well as greater respect and decision-making power within their families and society.
The Chief Minister stated that this decision has benefited a large number of families and has led to a significant increase in property registrations in women's names. Our government is continuously promoting policies that empower women, empower them, and make them equal partners in the development journey.

Finance and Commercial Taxes (Registration) Minister Shri O.P. Chaudhary said that this significant increase in property registrations in women's names is not just a statistical achievement, but a sign of social and economic change. When a woman owns property, it increases her self-confidence, strengthens her decision-making role in the family, and ensures financial security.

Minister Mr. Chaudhary stated that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai, is placing women at the center of the development process. The 50 percent registration fee waiver is not only intended to provide financial relief, but also to truly empower women by connecting them to property ownership. Initial results indicate that this initiative is proving effective in achieving its objectives.

Minister Shri Choudhary said that the state government is continuously making improvements to create a citizen-centric, transparent, and inclusive registration system. The increased participation of women is an important achievement towards building a developed Chhattisgarh.

The objective of the reforms and promotional measures being undertaken by the Registration and Stamping Department is to provide better services to the citizens and to extend the benefits of government schemes to every section of the society.
