Chhattisgarh Pushes for Faster Reforms: Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel Shares Key Suggestions in Cabinet Secretary’s VC

Centre-Seeks States’ Inputs to Simplify Administrative Processes and Strengthen Governance; Reform Utsav to Be Held Nationwide from October to December

Raipur, August 10, 2026: Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan held a video conference with the Chief Secretaries of all states on Monday to discuss reforms and corrective measures aimed at making administrative and developmental processes more effective, simplified and citizen-centric.

During the interaction, Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel presented several important suggestions on behalf of the state. He shared his views on simplifying administrative procedures, introducing reforms and ensuring more effective implementation of government schemes.

Chief Secretaries from other states also presented suggestions based on the specific needs and priorities of their respective states. The meeting focused on accelerating the pace of reforms, improving the efficiency of the administrative system and simplifying various government processes to make governance more responsive to citizens.

Secretaries from various departments of the Central Government also participated in the video conference. Discussions emphasised strengthening Centre-State coordination and ensuring effective implementation of reform measures across the country.

It was informed during the meeting that a nationwide ‘Reform Utsav’ will be organised from October to December. As part of the initiative, suggestions and feedback will also be invited from citizens through various platforms.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging wider participation in the reform process and creating a more efficient, transparent and citizen-oriented administrative system across the country.
