President's Distinguished Service Medal to ASI Ramavtar Singh Rajput of Dhamtari

IG Shri Ramgopal and 10 other officers awarded Indian Police Medal

Raipur, 15 August 2026/ On the auspicious occasion of 80th Independence Day, in the dignified state level main function held at Police Parade Ground in capital Raipur today, the officers and jawans of Chhattisgarh Police and City Army were decorated with prestigious medals and state level awards for their dedication, exceptional efficiency and distinguished services by the hands of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai.
Assistant Sub Inspector Shri Ramavtar Singh Rajput of Protected Centre Dhamtari was honored with the country's highest 'President's Distinguished Service Medal-2026' in the function for his loyal service of more than 36 years and excellent contribution in basic training.

A total of 10 police personnel, including Indian Police Service officers, were awarded the 'Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service, 2026' for their meritorious services, crime control, law and order, and modern innovations. Those honored with the medal include Inspector General of Police, Bilaspur Range, Shri Ramgopal (IPS), Senior Superintendent of Police, Raigarh, Shri Shashi Mohan Singh (IPS), Superintendent of Police, ATS, Nava Raipur, Smt. Rajshree Mishra (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Raipur Rural, Smt. Shweta Shrivastava Sinha (IPS), Commandant, 7th Battalion, CSI, Bhilai, Smt. Nivedita Paul, Commandant, 20th Battalion, CSI, Mahasamund, Smt. Manisha Thakur Raote, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Raipur, Shri Tarkeshwar Patel, Additional Superintendent of Police, Special Intelligence Branch, Nava Raipur, Ms. Unaiza Khatoon Ansari, Assistant Commandant, 1st Battalion, CSI, Bhilai, Shri Jaylal Markam, and Platoon Commander, 20th Battalion, CSI, Mahasamund, Shri Hazari Lal Sahu.

For playing a unique role in disaster management, relief work and public service, Naik Shri Uttam Kumar Sahu of City Army Rajnandgaon was awarded the 'Home Guard and Civil Defence Commendable Service Medal-2026' for flood rescue work in Shivnath River and Lance Naik Shri Jogeshwar Kumar Dhiwar of City Army Raipur was awarded the 'Excellent Diving and Training Medal'.

Police officers who have performed outstandingly in the areas of protection of vulnerable groups, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and women and child protection were honored with state-level and Director General of Police awards for the year 2025. Assistant Sub-Inspector Rameshwar Prasad Yadav of Janjgir-Champa was presented with the "Guru Ghasidas Award" (Rs. 50,000 in cash and a running shield for Bilaspur Range). For her outstanding contributions to the protection of vulnerable groups and women and children, Raipur Inspector Archana Dhurandhar was honored with the "Governor's Award" and the "Rani Subarna Kunwar Award" (Rs. 50,000 in cash and a running shield for Raipur Range). Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) Nisha Sinha of Gariaband was honored with the "Chief Minister's Award" (Rs. 50,000 in cash and a running shield for Raipur Range) for providing speedy justice to victims. Inspector Uttam Sahu of Ajak Police Station, Bilaspur, was honored with the "Shaheed Veernarayan Singh Award" (Rs. 50,000 in cash and a running shield for Bilaspur Range) for excellent police station management. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Ajak), Bilaspur, Mr. D.R. Tandon was awarded the 'Director General of Police Award' (Rs 25,000 cash and a citation).

A grand parade was held for the ceremony under the overall charge of Additional Director General of Police, Mr. Vivekanand (IPS) and under the leadership of City Superintendent of Police, Darri (Korba), Mr. Vimal Kumar Pathak (IPS). Contingents from the Central Paramilitary Forces, Chhattisgarh Armed Forces, District Police Force, Jail Police, City Army, NCC and Special Branches presented a disciplined and impressive march past.
