Azim Premji Scholarship: Girl students' dreams will take flight
Dhamtari To ensure that financial circumstances no longer hinder girls' pursuit of higher education, the Azim Premji Foundation has invited applications for the Azim Premji Scholarship 2026-27. Under this initiative, eligible girl students will receive financial assistance of ₹30,000 per year until they complete their undergraduate studies. Students will be able to use this amount for tuition fees and other essential educational expenses.
This scholarship is not just a means of financial assistance, but a significant initiative to connect girls to higher education and propel them toward a self-reliant future. Its goal is to ensure that no talented girl student has to leave her college education midway due to financial difficulties.
Assistance can be available for 2 to 5 years
Under the Azim Premji Scholarship, selected female students will receive ₹30,000 per year for 2 to 5 years, depending on the duration of their undergraduate education. Eligible female students can receive a maximum scholarship of up to ₹1.50 lakh over the entire period.
A distinctive feature of this scholarship is that selection is not based on merit, caste, income, or religion. Through simplified eligibility criteria and an easy online application process, efforts have been made to extend the benefits of this scheme to as many eligible female students as possible.
On August 17, Collector Mr. Abinash Mishra had also instructed the principals of the colleges to run a special campaign by identifying eligible girl students, provide guidance in application and ensure that the studies of any girl student are not disrupted due to financial difficulties.

Collector Mr. Abinash Mishra stated that no girl's higher education should be hindered due to financial circumstances. Initiatives like the Azim Premji Scholarship provide crucial financial support for girls to continue their college education. Colleges in the district have been directed to identify eligible girls and inform them about the scheme, provide necessary guidance in the application process, and enroll as many eligible girls as possible in the scheme. He emphasized that no eligible girl should be deprived of such an important scholarship opportunity due to lack of information.
The Collector has appealed to students and parents to take advantage of higher education opportunities and apply for the Azim Premji Scholarship within the stipulated deadline. Colleges have also been instructed to assist students by providing them with information about the necessary documents and application procedures.
Girl students from 21 states and union territories including Chhattisgarh are eligible
The third cohort of the Azim Premji Scholarship is being launched in 2026-27. This cohort covers 19 states and two union territories, totaling 21 states/union territories. These include Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
These girls can apply
For the academic year 2026-27, female students who have completed both Class 10 and 12 as regular students from a government school or college in an eligible State/Union Territory and are admitted as regular students in the first year of a recognized undergraduate degree or diploma course of 2 to 5 years duration in a government institution or a reputable and recognized private college/university in India in 2026-27 are eligible to apply.
Two opportunities to apply
Female students are eligible to apply in two phases. The first phase is from August 10 to 31, 2026, and the second phase is from January 10 to 31, 2027. Applications can only be made online through the Azim Premji Foundation's official website.
For application, students must keep ready clear, coloured and unedited copies of passport size photograph, Aadhar card, bank account details, original mark sheets of class 10th and 12th and proof of admission like bonafide certificate or tuition fee receipt.
The application process is completely free
The Foundation clarifies that no fee is charged at any stage of the scholarship application process. The Foundation does not request bank account information or OTP through phone calls or messages, and no interviews are conducted for scholarships. Students are advised to be cautious of any suspicious calls, messages, or individuals.

The Azim Premji Foundation was established on March 9, 2001. Long committed to promoting quality and equity in education, the foundation launched the Azim Premji Scholarship in 2024. This initiative provides opportunities for female students who are otherwise deprived of higher education due to financial constraints.
