Belladalla Bulls register first win, semi-final hopes remain
Raipur, October 29, 2026. Chinglensana Singh's team registered their first win in the Chhattisgarh Hockey League on Wednesday, 1-0, in a rain-affected Rajdhani Royals vs. Bailadila Bulls match. The Bulls kept themselves in contention for a semifinal spot, while the Royals were eliminated from the tournament without a win.
In a match delayed by nearly an hour due to rain, the Bulls, seeking their first league win, didn't have to wait long for their first goal. As soon as an opportunity arose in the circle, Rahul Yadav struck a powerful shot, giving his team an early lead. Despite numerous chances created throughout the match, it was the only goal scored in 60 minutes.
With the Royals struggling to even enter the Bulls' half on a wet field, the Bulls nearly scored their second goal. Gopal Paikra deflected the ball towards the goalpost, but the umpire ruled the goal invalid.
Despite the poor conditions, players from both teams gave their best. Passes were not landing well, and shots were significantly slowed down.
The Bulls' Jaskaran earned a pair of penalty corners, but both times his injection was poor, resulting in a goalless score. By the end of the first half, the Bulls were leading by a goal.
The players also had to contend with rain in the third and fourth quarters. The waterlogged circle prevented the forward line from executing their intended strategy. Overall, the league was a disappointing one for the Royals. They failed to score a single penalty corner, a major factor in their defeat. Despite this, Himanshu was named Player of the Match, while Rahul won the Striker of the Match award.
Nyayadhani Knights and Mainpat Titans' match ended in a 1-1 draw.
In a low-scoring first match, the Nyaydhani Knights and Mainpat Titans ended in a 1-1 draw. Ketan opened the scoring for the Knights in the second quarter, while Mohit Nayak led the Titans back in the fourth quarter. This result means the Titans will have to wait a little longer to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Chhattisgarh Hockey League.
The first quarter saw a few attacks from both teams, but none resulted in a goal. However, the Knights, who had qualified for the semifinals, opened the scoring late in the second quarter. Ketan scored his sixth goal of the tournament when he headed the ball past the goalkeeper on a rebound. They went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
The third quarter was quiet. The Knights' strong defense made it impossible for the opposing team's forward line to score. They ensured that the ball didn't touch anyone's feet inside the circle, keeping the score at 1-0.
But at a crucial juncture in the match, Mainpat needed something special. They deployed more players in attack, resulting in Mohit scoring the winning goal. Ketan was awarded the Striker of the Match award, while Mohit was named Player of the Match. Mainpat will have a chance to reach the semifinals when they play against Sanskardhani Strikers on October 29th.
