The Constitution of India is now available in Santhali language.
New Delhi. The Constitution of India is now available in the Santhali language. President Draupadi Murmu released it on December 25, 2025. The President said that it is a matter of pride and joy for all Santhals that the Constitution of India is now available in the Santhali language, in the Ol Chiki script. This will enable them to read and understand the Constitution in their own language.
The President said that this year we are celebrating the centenary of the Ol Chiki script. He praised the Minister of Law and Justice and his team for publishing the Constitution of India in the Ol Chiki script in the centenary year.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal.
The Santhali language, which was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution through the 92nd Constitutional Amendment Act of 2003, is one of India's oldest surviving languages. It is spoken by a large number of tribal people in Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar.
