Controversy follows death at Bageshwar Dham, accusations of lack of assistance; funeral held with donations
Chhatarpur: Recently, the discovery of a young man's body at Bageshwar Dham caused a sensation. The deceased was identified as Dhiraj Shah (32), a resident of Begusarai, Bihar. The deceased's family was unable to perform the last rites, nor did they have the money to perform the cremation in Chhatarpur. Amidst this, the district hospital management sent the body to Mukti Dham by ambulance.
Social workers collected 21,000 rupees for the funeral of the body.
Neither the Bageshwar Dham Committee nor the district administration provided any assistance to the grieving family for the cremation. However, when social workers in the city became aware of the incident, the residents of Chetgiri Colony helped the grieving family by collecting donations. They provided financial assistance of approximately 21,000 rupees to this poor family from Bihar. They also participated in the funeral rites performed according to Hindu rituals.
