Raipur. A gang of fraudsters has become active again in Chhattisgarh by replacing ATM cards. Following the discovery of a similar case in the capital, Raipur, the police have mobilized to apprehend the gang.
A case of fraud has come to light in the capital Raipur, where an accused defrauded an elderly man by replacing his ATM card. The accused withdrew over 1 lakh rupees from his account. Following the complaint, the police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
ATM card changed after getting entangled in conversation
This entire incident occurred in the Amanaka police station area. An elderly man fell victim to fraud. A fraudster engaged him in conversation at an ATM and exchanged his ATM card. When the elderly man's son received a message on his mobile phone about the money being deducted, he realized the accused had withdrawn money from his account. A complaint was subsequently filed at the police station. The police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
Withdrawn more than Rs 1 lakh from ATM
The victim, Raja Ram Vohra, lives in the Housing Board Colony of Tatibandh. On November 13th, he went to the ATM near the Radha Krishna Temple to withdraw ₹5,000. A suspect entered the ATM and, after engaging him in conversation, replaced his ATM card. The fraud came to light the next day when his son received a message on his mobile stating that ₹1,09,500 had been deducted.
Police alerted citizens
It is reported that the accused withdrew a total of ₹1,09,500 through various transactions on November 13th. Following the victim's complaint, the Amanaka police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The police have also urged people not to share their credit and ATM PIN codes, or any type of OTP, with anyone. They have also urged caution when withdrawing money from ATMs.
