Balod:  A case of fraud has come to light in Balod district of Chhattisgarh. A man was duped of over 2 lakh rupees  (Balod fraud news) in the name of healing the sick through tantra-mantra and promising financial gain  . Police have arrested three accused, two women, in the case.

More than 2 lakh rupees defrauded in the name of tantra-mantra

The case is from the Dundi police station area. Dhaneshwari Thakur, a resident of Khairwahi village, currently living in Jhalmala Ganganagar, was duped of over 2 lakh rupees under the Dundi police station area, under the pretext of curing her ailing husband through rituals and tantra mantras, and solving financial problems. Police have arrested the three accused. They have been identified as Ravi Netam (40 years old), a resident of Kaneri Maneripara village, Purur police station, Reena Netam (30 years old), and Padma Mandavi (50 years old), both residents of Kaneri village.

How the fraud happened

According to the information, the victim stated in her complaint, "The victim, Dhaneshwari Thakur, lives with her husband in a rented house in Jhalmala Ganganagar. Her husband is paralyzed on the left side of his body and lives in Jhalmala Ganganagar for treatment. This year, during Teej, a woman came to her house offering to sell Tikhur (sweets). Upon seeing her husband, she said, 'Your husband has been bewitched. We have a Baiga who will perform rituals and cure him.'" She then left.

After a few days, two women and a man came to her house and performed puja by placing coconut, incense sticks and lamps for the purpose. They said that if you keep money in the puja, then the puja will be fruitful, otherwise everything will go wrong. After which she gave Rs. 1,67,000 kept in the house. After this they said that if you keep gold and silver jewellery in the puja, then the puja will be fruitful, otherwise everything will go wrong. The woman gave her Marathi Mangal Sutra, another Mangal Sutra, a silver Sati too, which is worth 1.5 lakh. After this the accused said that they will perform puja and return the cash and gold and silver jewellery after touching it to the goddess of the house. The woman agreed to their words. Right there.

All three accused arrested

The accused were successful in defrauding her by luring her with their words. Based on the woman's complaint, the police began investigating the case. They formed a special team and detained suspect Ravi Netam, accused Reena Netam, and Padma Mandavi for questioning. Initially, they attempted to mislead her, but then confessed to their crime. They defrauded her of ₹272,000. The police arrested them and sent them to judicial custody.
