The three martyred soldiers were given a final farewell with a guard of honour at the Shaheed Vatika complex.

Bijapur. Three brave soldiers of the Bijapur District Police Reserve (DRG) sacrificed their lives in an encounter with Naxalites on December 3rd in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The martyred soldiers include Head Constable Monu alias Mohan Badri, Constable Dukaru Gonde, and Constable Ramesh Sodi. Displaying indomitable courage, the three soldiers fought tooth and nail until their last breath, killing dozens of Naxalites in the encounter. The three martyred DRG soldiers were laid to rest with a guard of honor at the Shaheed Vatika complex of the Police Lines on the Bijapur-Gangalur road on Thursday. The officers present and the large number of citizens bid them a tearful farewell.
Bastar Range IG Sundarraj P., Bijapur Collector, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav, CRPF DIG B.S. Negi, DIG Kamalochan Kashyap, along with numerous public representatives and a large number of local residents were present at the tribute ceremony. The families of the martyred soldiers were also present at the event, where everyone unanimously paid tribute to their bravery, dedication and sacrifice.

According to reports, Vella Modium, alias Mangu Modium, a notorious commander of the Naxalite Gangalore Area Committee, who carried a bounty of ₹8 lakh, was killed in this operation. Vella was the mastermind behind several major incidents, including the murder of a minor, a student, and a villager in Peddakorma. He was the intelligence wing commander of the organization and also led the CYPCM and IC Company No. 2. Security forces have cordoned off a large area in the Gangalore forests, and intensive searches are underway. So far, the bodies of 15 Naxalite cadres have been officially recovered, with the number likely to rise. SLR, INSAS, and 303 rifles and ammunition have been recovered from the scene. According to Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav, the search operation is ongoing in the area, and additional forces have been sent to the scene. Two DRG soldiers were injured in the encounter, but their condition is now out of danger.
