A 52-year-old man raped a 17-year-old girl, fled to Goa when she became pregnant; CG police arrested him.
Jashpur. Police in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, have arrested a rape suspect from Goa. The accused had fled after raping a 17-year-old girl. The incident came to light when the victim became pregnant. Based on the victim's complaint, Jashpur police arrested the accused from Goa. The accused's name is Milram Tirkey, 52.
Jashpur Police is conducting a special campaign called Operation Ankush, in which absconding accused are being apprehended. In this effort, Jashpur Police has succeeded in apprehending an absconding accused in a rape case from Goa.
In fact, on 6.10.25, the father of a 17-year-old minor girl from the Baghbahar police station area lodged a report at the police station stating that four or five days earlier, the victim's aunt had told him that his minor daughter had been forcibly raped by the accused, Milaram Tirkey, 52, from the same village, while she was grazing goats in the forest, a fact which his daughter was not telling anyone due to fear of public shame. He came to know about this when the minor girl became pregnant.
Given the sensitivity of the case, a case was immediately registered against accused Milram Tirki at Baghbahar police station under Section 64 (1) of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act, and investigation was initiated. The minor victim was also medically examined. Accused Milram Tirki had been absconding since the incident. Police were continuously searching for him and raiding his possible hiding places.
Meanwhile, the police learned that the accused, Milram Tirki, was in the Fatoda police station area of Goa. SSP Jashpur Shashi Mohan Singh immediately formed a police team and sent it to Goa. They detained the accused, Milram Tirki, from a restaurant near the Mazgaon bus stand in the Fatoda police station area and brought him back. Milram Tirki was working as a waiter at the restaurant.
During police interrogation, the accused, Milram Tirkey, confessed to the crime. He has been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
Police station in-charge Baghbahar Inspector Ashok Kumar Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector Narayan Sahu, constables Pawan Pankra, Abhay Khes and Ghanshyam Prajapati played an important role in the action taken in the case and the arrest of the accused.
SSP Jashpur Shashi Mohan Singh said that the police has found and brought back the absconding accused in the case of rape of a minor under the jurisdiction of Bagbahar police station from Goa, no one involved in crimes related to women and children will be spared, Operation Ankush will continue.
