IndiG0 Airlines receives legal notice of Rs 9000 crore: Chhattisgarh Civil Society has taken a strong stand against the sudden cancellation of more than 3450 flights by IndiGo Airlines across the country within four days and has issued a legal notice to the airline management. There has been a demand to impose a fine of ₹9000 crore ($1 billion) on IndiGo Airlines and to make strict new laws to prevent such incidents in future.

Violation of passengers' rights

Society convenor Dr. Kuldeep Solanki has sent this notice to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Indigo Airlines, saying that this move is not only a violation of the rights of passengers but is also a blatant disregard of Indian laws and civil aviation rules.

Sudden cancellation, nothing short of a disaster

The notice stated that IndiGo Airlines, without prior notice and without providing a transparent reason, arbitrarily disrupted the travel plans of thousands of passengers. Passengers have suffered significant financial loss, mental distress, and loss of time. The affected individuals include a large number of senior citizens, children, women, patients, and businesspeople, for whom the sudden cancellation proved to be nothing short of a disaster.
