Jashpurnagar. Collector Rohit Vyas today conducted a surprise inspection of the Kerakachar paddy procurement center. He inquired about the procurement system, the weighing process, and the facilities available to farmers at the center. During the inspection, he first met Bhujbal, a farmer from Karmatikra village, who had come to sell paddy, and inquired about farming, paddy production, and the procurement process at the committee. 

To understand the condition of the paddy being weighed, the Collector himself measured the moisture with a moisture machine and got the paddy weighed while standing in front of the farmers to check the transparency of the process. During the inspection, he discussed in detail with the fair in-charge, operator, nodal officer and villagers and gave clear instructions that illegal paddy purchase should not be allowed under any circumstances. He also inquired about the gunny bags available at the centre, cap-cover for protection from rain, tarpaulin arrangement and the condition of storage. The Collector, while observing the paddy purchase and gunny bag register, also physically matched the tokens issued as per the registration and the area. During this, SDM, Tehsildar and other officers and employees were present.

During the inspection, the Collector also reviewed the availability of seating facilities for farmers, drinking water, transportation, and adequate gunny bags as per demand. He directed the officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements at the paddy procurement centers are in place on time so that farmers do not face any problems. He said that the paddy procurement process should be completely transparent, systematic, and farmer-friendly. During the inspection, the Collector made it clear that the convenience of farmers is the top priority and any kind of negligence at the procurement centers will not be tolerated.
