Declaration of Kopra Reservoir as the state's first Ramsar site is a proud moment for Chhattisgarh: Chief Minister Sai

Raipur.  Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that the Kopra Reservoir in Bilaspur district being declared Chhattisgarh's first Ramsar site is a matter of great pride and honor for the entire state. This achievement symbolizes the global recognition of the state's rich biodiversity, diverse bird habitats, and sustainable water conservation efforts.

Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the State Wetland Authority, environmental experts, researchers, and local communities for their joint efforts for this significant achievement. He said that through everyone's coordinated cooperation, the Kopra Reservoir met international standards, earning Chhattisgarh this historic recognition.

The Chief Minister stated that the Kopra Reservoir's Ramsar status is a significant and inspiring step toward achieving the goal of having 20 wetlands in the state designated as Ramsar sites by 2030 under the "Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047." This achievement also strengthens the state's environmental protection policy and long-term vision.
Chief Minister Sai stated that this global recognition will promote eco-tourism in the state, creating new local employment opportunities. It will also strengthen public awareness about wetland conservation and prove to be a milestone in preserving natural resources for future generations.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to play an active role in protecting, conserving, and enhancing this invaluable natural heritage. He said that protecting nature is not just the government's responsibility, but society's collective responsibility, and that through this participation, Chhattisgarh will reach new heights of sustainable development.
